About the Project, Program & FAQ

Everything you need to know about our educational webinar series on gamification in financial behavior.

About the Project

Gamification transforms routine financial activities into interactive experiences. Instead of simply recording expenses, users are encouraged to maintain streaks, earn rewards, unlock achievements, and monitor progress through visually engaging systems.

These mechanisms can significantly increase engagement. Studies published between 2022 and 2026 in journals related to behavioral economics and human-computer interaction demonstrate that gamified systems often improve short-term adherence to budgeting routines.

However, increased engagement does not always translate into sustainable financial habits.

Research suggests that gamified financial tools may introduce psychological challenges. Users may develop dependency on external rewards or experience disappointment when progress indicators reset after a missed entry or unexpected expense.

Several studies report that streak-breaking events can trigger feelings of frustration, shame, or disengagement from budgeting altogether.

This webinar series does not attempt to determine which application performs best or which design strategy should be adopted.

Instead, the goal is to understand how gamification interacts with human motivation, why it can both support and undermine long-term financial discipline, and how individuals can interact with such systems more consciously.

The project is strictly educational and does not promote products, services, or commercial solutions.

This project does not promote any budgeting apps, gamified financial tools, productivity platforms, investment services, or commercial applications.

The webinar is provided for educational purposes only. The invited expert participates as a guest contributor.
